I must say, it feels good to be back, away from the dullness and feeling of dread that constantly surrounds me whilst being back in Hertfordshire. Grimey and I concluded, on a trip into Stevenage town centre, that it is a place where ambitions, hopes and dreams, go to die. So, safely settled in the bosoom of the Welsh hills we’re back on the craigslist hype and certain cast members decide to leave the relative safety of the “men seeking women” section to find darker desires…
Here’s a link to the section in question. I’ve come to the conclusion that no woman should be unemployed, there’s simply no excuse. There are a wealth of jobs that, rich, slightly mental men would pay you good money to do, under particular circumstances, whatever you look like.
As I’ve stated before, I’m my own worst enemy when it comes to promotion, but I’d be letting the crew down if I didn’t do it. So in this episode expect to hear some EXCLUSIVE dubs from Driscoll and Gold Bloom. There will be a wave of new videos for tracks by said artists and Levi Kage soon, once the exams and post-exam parties have died down I will get cracking.

About the cover.
Nothing overly stylish or interesting, no outside shot of a pink Aberystwyth sunset, no sir. It’s exam period for me so most of my days have been stuck in doors revising for the penultimate exams of my University experience. Fitting then, that this weeks photo be taken from my room. This is the flyer of what will be the most important night for the music scene in Aberystwyth. To understand why you need to understand what its like being a promoter in this town. There are very few viable venues in Aberystwyth, the council are in a difficult position to try and make the place an attractive student town whilst not upsetting their actual residents. This means that noise levels are a constant issue for any venue thinking about holding an event. Almost every venue is surrounded by housing apart from the pier. One of the more popular clubs had to remove it’s bass bins so all you get is an earful of distortion when you walk in.
It’s fortunate then, that there is a venue that will accept anyone to use the space at the back of the pub for free, so long as the dates are booked in advance. This one venue is the life blood of underground, it’s hosted nights ranging from Electro-swing, Latin, Reggae, Hardcore, Jungle, Grime and Bass Music. It’s a weird place where, due to it’s size all the promoters know each other and despite it, there’s a strangely healthy sound system culture. The choice and quality of the sound is incredible. But more on that below a future episode cover I think.
It’s weird to think that everyone else’s actions as a promoter will effect your own. When you’ve previously had to deal with trying to get window room in a fast food shop and spent multiple weekends dropping flyers through student houses up and down the town all you can think about is your night. Every other flyer, poster and event page is just a distraction regardless of what day it’s on. We’ve all been put into one basket and asked to behave. As promoters that can be quite stressful, but at a time when I felt that maybe the tensions were getting too high this has brought everyone together, to push for it, to try and make this the best night in Aberystwyth we can possibly make it. We’re all striving to create the best rooms, to create the best vibes and put on the best entertainment all in the cause for ONE.
I can’t bloody wait.
